Yes cricut vinyl will stick to stained wood but there is one tip that may make your project a bit easier.
Will vinyl stick to wood slices.
651 permanent vinyl some sort of base coat treatment for the wood like polycrylic or acrylic paint.
Repeat for the other wood slices.
I used glossy outdoor vinyl oracal 651 in red and gold.
Or peel the glitter vinyl image off of the backing and place directly on to the wood slice without using the transfer tape.
You guys i have to be honest.
And often after time the vinyl will start to peel up because it s not adhered perfectly to the rough surface.
The past few weeks have been rough.
For the woodland owl ornament place the body of the owl on to the wood slice first then stick the scarf piece over top.
If you don t have a silhouette there are still lots of different ways that you could make wood slice ornaments too draw or paint on them by hand or with stencils from the craft store or try a wood burner.
Because it s not perfectly smooth it takes quite a bit of effort and patience to get the vinyl to stick to the wood.
I used transfer paper to apply the vinyl to the ornaments.
It works but i find that wood is not the perfect surface for adhesive vinyl.
Or maybe that s just us.
Stain can leave an oily residue that will make your vinyl lift from the surface.
